Chief Prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) Laura Codruta Kovesi states in a letter addressed to the chair of the parliamentary inquiry committee in the 2009 presidential elections that in the exercise of her duties or in her spare time she did not obtain information about circumstances or situations through which some public authorities and / or people would have been involved in the respective poll in view of tampering the outcome of these elections.
"Reiterating the conviction that the parliamentary inquiry has the objective of researching, documenting and controlling a public interest issue related to the common good and defending the national interest, since the grounds underlying the establishment of the Special committee were the information appeared in the public space about a possible tampering of the vote result for the election of Romania's President, held in 2009, I hereby inform you that neither in the exercise of my duties nor in my free time did I find out information about the circumstances or situations according to which some public authorities and / or persons other than those provided by the law, were involved in the presidential elections of December 2009, respectively in the running of the electoral process aimed at tampering with the outcome of these elections," Laura Codruta Kovesi said.
In the document logged at Parliament on August 11, and put at the disposal of Agerpres on Tuesday, by the chair of parliamentary inquiry committee, Oana Florea, the DNA head states that she did not respond to the invitation of the committee because she did not know and does not know about any "aspects likely to help find the truth" in the cause that constitutes this forum's activity subject. Chief prosecutor Kovesi points out, among other things, that she did not have, nor does she have any prerogatives to verify the legal provisions regarding the organization and running of the 2009 presidential elections, that she is unaware of the involvement of some institutions or people in the development of this process, and of the way the Special Telecommunications Service (STS) ensured the special telephony services, about the possible existence of parallel mechanisms influencing and/or tampering with the result of the vote, nor does she have any information about the existence of the applications and IT services acquisition, used by the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC), and she also had no prerogatives on centralizing the vote.
