Romania is rather a transit country and the number of refugees here is relatively small, as immigrants' pressure is high for Central and Northern Europe, Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor Melescanu said on Monday.
"Romania didn't accept the idea of mandatory refugee quotas. Under the principle of solidarity and according to possibilities, the competent bodies, the Ministry of Internal Affairs can tell you what the current available options are, and I am convinced that they will do everything in their power for things to be OK. Luckily for us, Romania is rather a transit country, the number of refugees is relatively small as immigrants' pressure is for Central and Northern Europe," Melescanu said at the Embassy of Spain where he signed the book of condolence opened in memory of those killed in the terror attacks last week.
