The Ministry of the Business Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship (MMCCA) signed on Wednesday 20 grant agreements for the Start-up Nation Programme, amounting to almost 4 million lei, and under these agreements 155 new jobs were created, the Minister for Business Environment, Ilan Laufer, told a press conference. Bakeries, footwear companies, software companies, and office and store furniture manufacturers are among the beneficiaries.

"I would like to talk about the Start-Up Nation programme and to provide some information about the financing agreements we will be signing today. There are 20 newly established companies, they are start-ups. The overall financing requested by these 20 companies amounts to 3.987 million lei. They will create 155 new jobs, on average, there are 7.75 jobs per company, of which 45 are created for graduates, unemployed or disadvantaged people, which means an average of 2.25 jobs per company," Laufer said.

He specified that the fields of activity of the 20 companies having signed contracts are: manufacturing of other garments (7 companies), bakery and confectionery (4 companies), footwear manufacturing (2 companies), software-on-demand development (2 companies) and one company in each of the following fields: biscuit and ladyfinger manufacturing, furniture for offices and stores, clothing, manufacturing of other carpentry and joinery for constructions, furniture manufacturing. "That means there are a lot of ideas, a lot of start-ups, and I am very pleased with this and I see that many of those who are in these circumstances today, to be financed, that is with scores of 100 and 95 points, in particular, are companies that will bring added value to the economy, and this makes me glad and even those who are at the top have exceeded our expectations," Ilan Laufer pointed out.

According to official data, over 19,000 business plans were recorded in the Start-Up Nation programme, of which 70 percent were submitted in the last five days of the session. The Start-Up Nation programme had a budget of 1.7 billion lei this year, and the maximum amount a company can receive is 200,000 lei.
