More than 127,000 people were hired in the first six months of 2017 through the National Employment Agency (ANOFM), the agency said in a statement released on Tuesday.
Among the hired persons, 54,277 are over 45 years old; 40,614 are aged 35 to 45; 35,459 are between 25 and 35 years old, and 23,450 are young people under 25 years of age, according to ANOFM.
Most of the hired persons, 89,065 were male. By residence, 83,758 come from urban areas, and 70,042 from the countryside. By educational attainment, most people for whom a job was found were high-school graduates (47,394).They are followed by vocational-school graduates (40,057), secondary-school graduates (35,688) and 16,295 people were university graduates.
Nationwide, most of the hired people were in Timis County (10,431); Bucharest City (10,390); Suceava County (9,585); Hunedoara County (7,203) and Neamt County (6,877). At the same time, 325,339 people were extended social assistance in H1 2017. "Thus, in the first six months of 2017, the number of persons who got assistance with registering as jobseekers to get unemployment benefits or sign up for in active employment measures was 325,339 persons," according to ANOFM.
