Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos says it is important to create the opportunity for women to be a more active presence in politics.
He underlined that women are approximately half of the country's population, which should be mirrored in the political representation's structures.
"When it comes to politics, it's about the political struggle, about the political confrontation, as a process resulting in political decisions. I personally dare believe and say that this feminine nature of confrontation and fight is something that evolves and, therefore, I believe that the women's presence in this political confrontation process would probably give further consistency and a different perception of what the meaning of debate and political decision-making, and I believe it would be good to have in the Romanian politics this feminine side of the political confrontation, which - at least the way I understand it - is constructive and progressive," the prime minister continued.
He mentioned that politics would win with an active presence of women.
"Should the women in politics manage to bring and consolidate this feminine side of humanity by resisting emasculation (...) the Romanian politics would have nothing but to win and perhaps the entire society would win in its regenerating capacity which we badly need to assimilate the idea that evolution and change are not only the outcome of the fight and confrontation, but also the result of solidarity and this is what I believe the Romanian society needs. (...) A more active presence of women in this process would be good, in particular in the current period," Ciolos concluded.AGERPRES
