Ponta: PM not alone at controls, President Iohannis, Dragnea have their hands on the rudder too

The Grindeanu government has actually "four pilots", one of whom is Social Democratic Party leader Liviu Dragnea, says former PM and Social Democrat deputy Victor Ponta. He goes on by listing his experience with three governments - the lineup headed by Adrian Nastase who was himself fully in control; the Boc government where the PM was officially holding the rudder, but which had Traian Basescu always giving indications, taking decisions and imposing measures; and the Ponta government for the ruling vision of which he takes responsibility with all its "goods and bads."

"Now I see that the Grindeanu government (for which I voted and whose success would make me happy and comfortable) already has four pilots! Next to the Premier there's President Iohannis mightily pulling the rudder (as obviously proven by his forceful installation at the head of the table at the Victoria Palace or by the summons regarding the budget); PSD leader Liviu Dragnea is visibly pulling too (not just that he announced the Cabinet members in the beginning, but he coordinates them directly and publicly presents all accomplishments, leaving the negative aspects for the poor ministers to deal with), and there's a fourth "hand" increasingly more visible and acting in the public eye: the System that orders through the voice of the Prosecutor General or the anticorruption head prosecutor what ordinances or laws the government must adopt or not, who may or may not be minister or secretary of state - or even how many salaries can be raised from the hypothetical and fantasist 'damages' found (needless to say that in 2016, with a technocrat government at rule, the recovery rate reached an all-time low of less than 10 percent)," Ponta wrote on Facebook.

In this context he has "a simple question": "You see an airplane with four pilots in the cabin jostling and screaming at each other - do you still board the plane? Or if you are already inside, would you look after the emergency exit or pray to God you make a fast landing and then dash away happy that you were able to escape?" "This grim picture," Ponta adds, is completed by the terrible storm rumbling around the "Romania airplane" - with turbulence affecting Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Syria, Greece, while the "flight controllers" in Washington and Brussels have so many domestic problems on their hands that Romania is their last concern. "Romania still has economic 'fuel' from the very good period 2013 - 2015! A good part however was already consumed in 2016 and now the needle already approaches the red zone! I'm doing my duty to say all this because I do care about Romania and because I know perfectly well what I am talking about! I address people who think with their own mind - propagandistic manipulation of the kind 'here comes Ponta to balk at the PSD government' or 'Ponta feels the change and wants to take Dragnea's place' is for political police and stupid people that leave me unimpressed," concluded the former PM.
