Romania's President Klaus Iohannis on Tuesday said that the Hermann Ehlers anti-corruption award he is slated to receive on Wednesday in Germany is an award for Romania
"I go there to take the award, which I believe is for Romania, not for me personally. It is noteworthy that an important political foundation of Germany wants to bestow an award on Romania's President for how Romania manages corruption. And that is why I believe I am not mistaken to say that the award is public acknowledgment of Romania faring very well in the fight against corruption," Iohannis told journalists at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace, according to Agerpres.
Iohannis will be in Kiel, Germany, on Wednesday to be presented with the Hermann Ehlers award bestowed by a homonymous foundation for special merits in support of the rule of law and the fight against corruption.
