Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, world no. 1 and the main seed, started with a victory on Monday, in the Red Group of the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore, defeating France's Caroline Garcia, with a score of 6-4, 6-2.
Halep (aged 26) got back at Garcia after the French player recently defeated her in the Beijing final. The Romanian national managed to defeat her opponent (aged 28, WTA's 8th and 8th seed) in one hour and 27 minutes.
The first victory in Singapore secured Simona 263,000 US dollar and 250 WTA points. Garcia also secured 125 WTA points and 110,000-US dollar.
