Romanians spent 2.5 billion euro on online shopping in 2017, the average price of a purchase being around 60 euro, shows a market study released on Thursday by an online marketing agency. According to the quoted source, this year, 61 pct of Romanian Internet users have chosen to purchase products online, while 34 pct still go shopping in offline stores.
In this context, the smartphone has caught up with the desktop when it comes to shopping, being preferred by 27 pct of online shoppers. "From their phones or their laptops, Romanians haven't wasted time. In 2017, they mostly shopped online and paid more often by credit card. More precisely amounts that have reached one billion euro. What products are they interested in? Well, the main categories of products have been in the IT&C and fashion area, but the Home&Deco segment is also not doing too badly. It ranks high in Romanians' online purchases, with an average spending of 474 lei. In 2017, the average value of a purchase was of approximately 60 euro," the conclusions of the research specify.
Moreover, 35 pct of Romanian shoppers have found out online about the product they were interested in, while 34 pct from the television.
