Romanians Monica Niculescu and Patricia Tig have qualified to the doubles' finals of the WTA Luxembourg tournament on Friday evening, after 0-6, 6-4, 10-8, against Britons Jocelyn Rae/Anna Smith in the semifinals.

Niculescu and Tig have imposed themselves in 62 minutes and will meet in the final act the second seeds, Dutch player Kiki Bertens and Swede player Johanna Larsson, who've managed to surpass the Madison Brengle (USA)/Nicola Geuer (Germany) pair by 6-2, 6-2.

Niculescu will also play the singles' final after defeating Kiki Bertens, third favorite, by 6-3, 6-3.

The challenger in the singles' final will be Petra Kvitova (Czechia), the main favorite, which won the semifinal against American Lauren Davis by 7-5, 6-3.

Monica Niculescu is at her third singles' final in Luxembourg, after two previous finals lost, in 2011 and 2012, and the second doubles' final, after the one played together with Irina Begu in 2012, which was also lost.

Niculescu has ensured for herself a cheque worth 17,258 euro and 180 WTA points in the singles' tournament, while for qualifying in the doubles' final, Niculescu and Tig ensured for themselves 5,161 euro and 180 WTA points.
