Senate President Mircea Abrudean highlighted on Wednesday that clear security rules are necessary so that Romania can invest and recover the gaps, treating "security as the basis of prosperity".
"I made it clear today at the Aspen Institute Romania - GMF Bucharest Forum 2025 that Romania is strong and we can all count on it. Europe is changing rapidly, with a strategic map that is being rewritten month by month. We need clear security rules. Otherwise, we cannot plan, we cannot invest, we cannot catch up on the gaps. We must treat security as the basis of prosperity. We finance it, we train people, we work integratedly with allies," he wrote on Facebook.
He pointed out that "we are strengthening the Black Sea flank, investing in air defense, naval capabilities, cyber and dual-use infrastructure."
"Romania maintains its high standards. No shortcuts. We must be able to offer legislative and economic predictability and a clear path for reform. Which we are doing. I thank President Mircea Geoana, once again, for the invitation and for the opportunity to speak well of my country, in an international and select setting," added Abrudean.
The President of the Aspen Institute Romania, former NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana, participates as the main host at the 14th edition of the Aspen - GMF Bucharest Forum.
The event is organized by the Aspen Institute Romania, in partnership with The German Marshall Fund of the United States and Aspen Institute Romania - Chisinau Office, under the High Patronage of the President of Romania.
