Strengthening the energy resilience and European integration of the Republic of Moldova are priority objectives, highlighted on Wednesday at the meeting between Acting Senate President Alina Gorghiu and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova Nicu Popescu.

According to a press release sent by the Senate to AGERPRES, Gorghiu welcomed the efforts of the Chisinau authorities in the face of massive challenges such as the energy crisis, the inherent economic and social difficulties, the management of the large number of refugees, as well as security ones.

Both sides noted with satisfaction that it was possible to identify viable solutions to particularly complex problems, with wide implications for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova (electricity supply, etc.).

The Romanian side reiterated its support for the Republic of Moldova, drawing the attention of European countries to the problems faced by the neighboring country in the context of the war in Ukraine.

The acting President of the Senate highlighted the fact that the Support Platform for the Republic of Moldova is particularly useful and must be fully utilized both on the development and political dimensions.

The head of diplomacy from Chisinau, Nicu Popescu, is present on Wednesday in Bucharest, where the Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs from NATO member countries is taking place. On Wednesday, a session will take place in which the heads of diplomacy from the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, partner countries of the North Atlantic Alliance, will join the discussions.
