The control missions of the Standing Electoral Authority (AEP) to the main political parties will start on September 1, AEP Chairman Adrian Tutuianu told a news conference on Friday.
An exception is the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), where the control will begin on October 1, at the request of the party, as it will be verified, starting with September 1, by the Court of Accounts.
"The control missions to the big political parties, I mean the Social Democratic Party, the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Save Romania Union (USR), the S.O.S. Romania party, the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) will start on September 1, with a deadline of November. For the Alliance for the Union of Romanians Party (AUR), the control mission will begin on October 1. It is a request made by AUR, because on September 1 they also have control from the Court of Auditors and we overlapped, we messed things up there. And also, at AUR, we hope that at the end of November we will have finalised the control report and that we will be able to present the report in full and our conclusions," said Tutuianu.
The AEP chairman added that the verifications for 2023 and 2024 have been completed at all political parties.
"There are the reports concluded at 224 political parties, we have six classification reports as a result of the admission of some requests for self-dissolution and deletion of the existing political parties in the Fiscal Register and we are working on the control reports and the issuance of administrative acts at several large political parties, where we need to discuss certain issues next week. On September 1, all these issues will be finalised, the reports will be public (...) and we will be in front of you with the results and with clarifications regarding the penalties applied, confiscations and so on, but also with the law on the organisation and operation of the Standing Electoral Authority," the AEP chairman said.
Regarding the fiscal year 2025, Tutuianu said that, out of the total of 270 political parties in the control plan, eight are political parties qualifying for public subsidies, there are 98 control missions in progress, 164 control missions already completed, with completed reports, including administrative acts issued and two dismissal reports as a result of decisions to dissolve political parties.
