Chairman of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) Calin Popescu-Tariceanu argues that the National Liberal Party (PNL) is currently using the same "solution" as the Democrat Liberal Party (PDL) in 2009-2010, when the public servants' wages were cut by 25 percent, turning those who work in the private system against those from the public system.
The ALDE leader added that in times of crisis the state must "become the main support engine of economy and not cut incomes."
He highlighted that in order to restart economy, consumption shouldn't be inhibited, but on the contrary.
"We must find solutions not to cut incomes, encourage people to consume normal and in a Romanian way, because any Romanian product bought represents a job for one of their fellow citizen. Being blocked these dramatic days in a deficit target imposed by the EU, taking into account that all the countries have thrown away any budget restriction, is at least an imbecile act, if not a criminal one. (...) Instead of thinking at creative solutions, you have chosen the electoral solution: turning those working in private [system] against those [working] for the state! This is what solidarity means for PNL=PDL!," Tariceanu added.
