As many as 4,689,449 pensioners were reported in Romania in May 2025, up 2,970 from the previous month, with the average pension standing at RON 2,763, according to data with the National House of State Pensions (CNPP).
The total value of the pensions due amounted to RON 12.954 billion, agerpres reports.
Of the total number of pensioners, 557,575 are agricultural pensioners drawing a pension of RON 679 on average.
According to CNPP statistics, there were 3,753,765 people having retired at the pension age, including 2,153,099 women, with the average pension standing at RON 3,085.
In May 2025, 4,294 people received early retirement benefits (RON 3,937 average pension), 93,707 people received partial early retirement benefits (RON 2,776 average pension) and 403,066 people received disability pension (average pension RON 1,120), including 45,034 drawing first degree of disability pensions (RON 973 average pension).
In the same month, 434,514 persons (RON 1,487 average pension) were drawing survivor's benefits, while 103 pensioners received social assistance (RON 540 on average). (EUR 1 = RON 5.09)
