Prosecutors with Romania's Directorate for Organised Crime and Terrorism Investigation (DIICOT) are expected to demand in rogatory letters that journalists of the British Sky News channels be heard in connection with a news story about alleged firearm trafficking in Romania, judiciary sources told Agerpres on Wednesday.

The sources say the papers will be submitted to the relevant British authorities this week, with the hearing to be conducted most likely in the UK. Prosecutors with Romania's Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) have started the criminal investigation of three members of the Sky News television broadcaster's crew who took part in the making of a reportage about alleged firearms trafficking in Romania over the commission of communication of false information, according to the reasons given for the pre-trial detention of three Romanian nationals who featured in the video footage.

The DIICOT prosecutors ordered the expansion and commencement of the criminal prosecution of the three persons on August 11.
