All documents which have contribution for clearing Revolution must be declassified

All the documents which have a contribution to clarifying the situation of the Revolution must be declassified, General Prosecutor of Romania Augustin Lazar, said at the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) headquarters on Monday.

When asked if he will request the declassification of several documents about which it has been talked in the Emergency Ordinance regarding the reopening of the Revolution case, he responded: "Obviously, all the documents that can bring a contribution, all the documents that have a contribution in clarifying the actual situation of the Revolution must be declassified."

Last week, the prosecutors with the Military Prosecutors' Department decided to extend of the in rem criminal prosecution, in the Revolution case, under the offense of crime against humanity, the High Court of Cassation and Justice (PICCJ) announced.

According to prosecutors, the armed incidents taking place in a large number of localities indicates the fact that a predetermined plan was applied, the objective of which was the taking of power by the new leaders and establishing their legitimacy.

According to investigators, the inquiries will be resumed regarding all actions that were the object of case no. 11/P/2014, including actions taking place after 22 December 1989 in the entire country, according to provisions withheld in the confirmation closing regarding the reopening of the respective criminal prosecution.
