Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu said Wednesday that his Cabinet was preparing his new visits this year to Austria, Italy and the US.

"I have had excellent meetings in Brussels that will generate meetings for April and May. Preparations are underway for my visits this April to Austria and Italy," Grindeanu told DC News news portal on Wednesday, adding that on Thursday he is scheduled to meet members of the Moldovan Cabinet.

He confirmed that work is also being done on his visit this autumn to the US.

"The partnership with the US is extremely important. The US is our strategic partner. Strengthening Romania's relationships with the US beyond words is one of the fundamental guidelines of governing and of the government I am running. Much has been said over these years. I know that business ties have also to be strengthened," said Grindeanu.

Asked about his relationship with President Klaus Iohannis, Grindeanu said: "Institutionally correct".

"I have had a conversation with Mr President. If we are talking about the European debate on the five scenarios [regarding the future of the European Union], there is a shared opinion of the Presidential Administration, the Government and Parliament. I was thinking that just two more moments have existed after the [December 1989] Revolution when all energies were steered in the same direction and consensus existed: when Romania joined NATO and when it joined the European Union," said Grindeanu.
