In a phone conversation on Thursday with President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, Romania's Prime Minister, Mihai Tudose, said that Romania will continue its assistance programmes to the Republic of Moldova and its support for Moldova's pro-European journey, official sources tell AGERPRES.

The sources add that Tudose told Tusk that Romania will continue to be the most involved EU member state in persuading Moldova to keep on a European journey.

Thursday's conversation is part of a regular consultation mechanism with European leaders started by Tudose on a recent visit to Brussels, according to the sources.

In the same conversation, Tusk commended the Romanian PM for making good on commitments made at discussions with European leaders.

Tudose is scheduled to visit Moldova on Friday.
