Romania grabs six awards at International Olympiad of Mathematics

Three silver medals, two bronze medals and one recognition are the prizes won by Romania's Olympic team at the International Olympiad of Mathematics in Rio de Janeiro, on Tuesday informed the National Education Ministry (MEN).

The silver medals were grabbed by Filip-Alexandru Ion ("Mihai Viteazul" National College in Bucharest), Mihnea-Gabriel Doica and Stefan Tudose (both high schoolers with the International Theoretical High School of Informatics in Bucharest).

Ciprian Mircea Bonciocat (a silver winner in 2015 and 2016) and Mihnea-Andrei Ocian, both learning at the "Tudor Vianu" National High School of Informatics in Bucharest were awarded the bronze medals.

Alexandra Timofte ("Tudor Vianu" National College in Bucharest) took a recognition.

Romania's Olympic team was coordinated by Professor Dr. Radu Gologan (Politehnica University of Bucharest) and Lecturer Dr. Mihai Chis (West University of Timisoara).

This year's edition saw the participation of over 600 competitors from 110 countries.
