Transport Minister, Razvan Cuc, asked his Bulgarian counterpart, Ivaylo Moskovski, to allow the Romanian authorities to dredge the Danube in the sector managed by the neighbour side, if a special situation occurs.

Razvan Cuc on Tuesday wrote on his Facebook page that he paid a visit to his Bulgarian counterpart to identify solutions to the problems regarding the navigation's situation on the Danube and the circulation in the border check points, by ensuring several points of purchasing the road ticket for vehicles.

"Romania and Bulgaria together can guarantee better conditions for the Danube navigation and can make this transport sector profitable for both countries. At the same time, we must ease the traffic at the customs' points and slash as much as we can the waiting times at the Bulgarian border. (...) I've asked Ivaylo Moskovski, the Minister of Transports, Information Technology and Communications in the Bulgarian gov't to allow the Romanian authorities to dredge the Danube in the Bulgarian-administered sector, if a special situation occurs. This way we could quickly unlock the Danube's critical sectors. I'm being assured by my Bulgarian homologue that we could find solutions, at an expert joint Committee's level on the common administration of the river sector," the minister added.
