BNR upwardly adjust end-2017 inflation forecast to 1.9pct

The National Bank of Romania (BNR) has upwardly adjusted to 1.9 percent its inflation forecast for the end of 2017, BNR Governor Mugur Isarescu said on Tuesday. The adjustment was made from a previously estimated a level of 1.6 percent, down 0.1 percent.

For the end of 2018, BNR expects estimates an inflation rate of 3.2 percent, from a previous 3.1 percent forecast, and for the end of the first half of 2019, it expects an inflation rate of 3.5 percent.

According to BNR, the annual CPI inflation rate in Romania should get within the bank's targeted range in the third quarter of 2017.

At constant rates, the inflation rate should reach 2.9 percent in December 2017, slightly above BNR's target of 2.5 percent.
