Romania's National Minorities Day set up as national celebration on December 18

The bill on establishing Romania's National Minorities Day as national celebration on December 18 was unanimously adopted by the plenary sitting of the Senate with 92 votes in favor.

The bill initiated by the deputies belonging to the national minorities regulates "the declaration and celebration of December 18 as a national celebration, established through Government Decision No. 881/1998 as the Day of National Minorities." The bill stipulates that for the celebration of the National Minorities Day of Romania cultural events dedicated to this celebration are to be organised.

The central and local authorities can contribute with logistic or financial support. The Romanian Television Broadcasting Corporation (SRTV) and the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Corporation (SRR) will cover the info from events celebrating the National Minorities Day of Romania, stipulates the bill.
