Premier Mihai Tudose said on Wednesday in the northern city of Carei that this year's budget deficit is under 3 percent and not above 4 percent, as Liberal MEP Daniel Buda claims. "This year's deficit is below 3 percent and next year it's also under 3 percent. Allow me to comment on what I know, not on what you know. It is under 3 percent - at 2.97 [percent] in 2017, and stays the same in 2018 as per the budget forecast," said Tudose.
Asked if he is unhappy with Finance Minister Ionut Misa, the PM denied such allegations. "No, this is not true, it's quite the opposite. We have no intention [to remove him from office] neither on governmental, nor on political grounds," said Mihai Tudose. MEP Daniel Buda (from the National Liberal Party) said a release that Romania's budget deficit, as per the findings of the European Commission, would be 4.1 percent this year.
