Copil (aged 27, ATP's 78th) defeated his 19-year-old opponent, ATP's 474th, in one hour and 8 minutes.
The Romanian national secured 5,320 euro and 40 ATP points, for getting this far in the competition, and he is to face off in the semifinals a more valuable opponent, either French Jeremy Chardy (30, ATP's 87th) or Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (19, ATP's 95th).
