Romanian Simona Halep, Danish Caroline Wozniacki and American Venus Williams have been nominated in the survey for the title of the best player in October in the women's professional tennis circuit (WTA).
Halep became the 25th WTA leader last month, on October 9, after playing her 27th final in her career, in Beijing. The victory in the semifinal with Latvian Jelena Ostapenko ensured the Romanian the first place in the world hierarchy, on which she ended the season in the WTA circuit. Halep became the 13th player to finish the year on the first place in the WTA rankings, after participating in the Champions' Tournament in Singapore, for the fourth year in a row.
Simona Halep made it to the Top 10 WTA for the first time on January 27, 2014 and is the active player with the most consecutive weeks in the Top 10.
October's winner will be announced on Friday.
