The National Liberal Party (PNL) is officially asking again Liviu Dragnea's resignation as Deputies' Chamber Speaker and the cessation of the debates on the Justice Laws, Liberal MPs leader Raluca Trucan said on Wednesday. The PNL PMs have left the meeting of the joint standing bureaus, in sign of protest against "the abusive manner in which Dragnea breeches his prerogatives."

She criticised that the agenda of Parliament's joint plenary session on Wednesday was supplemented with two proposals to modify the regulations, "also in the spirit of the wrong-doings the PSD-ALDE [Social Democratic Party - Alliance of Liberals and Democrats] majority is used to do in Romania's Parliament." "The entire procedure under which the Justice Laws are being debated on in Parliament is unprecedented, one that shows the premeditation of a criminal group which has simply monopolised the decision-making in these two institutions - the Deputies' Chamber and the Senate. A committee working morning until evening with one sole aim - a law to save from Justice the politicians who are currently undergoing serious corruption investigations, and, thus, are placed above any citizen with common sense in this country. PNL cannot tolerate and encourage such behaviour from PSD and ALDE, especially from Liviu Dragnea, and once more, officially, we are asking for Liviu Dragnea's resignation from this office, the cessation of the debates on the Justice Laws, waiting for a view point from the Justice institutions, our international partners - the European Commission, the Venice Commission - and waiting for an evaluation and and impact study of these laws in the entire judicial sector," the PNL deputy maintained.
