European funds for environmental risks management in Danube Region

The 13th meeting of the Steering Group for "Priority Area 5 - Environmental Risks Management with the EU Strategy for the Danube Region" (PA5 - EUSDR) taking place on Friday in the Capital, brings to the experts' attention the consolidation of cooperation in flood management and climate changes in the Danube's Basin. 

As of 2017, the "Priority Area 5 - Environmental Risks Management with the EU strategy for the Danube Region" project was approved for financing within Danube Transnational Programme, a project that is the subject of a partnership agreement signed with the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as partnership leader, informs the Ministry of Forests and Waters. 

The budget allocated to the Ministry of Forests and Waters through this project amounts to 176,469.68 euro, of which 149,999.23 euro (85 percent) from the EU and 26,470.75 (15 percent) national co-financing. The project's implementation period extends over 36 months, from January 2017 to December 2019. 

The main topics discussed at the conference in Bucharest include the analysis of the progress of the activities of PA5 at the 12th meeting of the Steering Group, of the ongoing projects and the future ones within PA5, including those financed through the Danube Transnational Programme. 

Alongside the representative of the Ministry of Forests and Waters, participating in the discussions are Gheorghe Constantin, as manager of the PA5 - EUSDR for the management of environmental risks for Romania and Karoly Gombas, the representative of the project's partnership leader. Also attending the discussions are representatives of the Danube bordering countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Serbia and Slovakia) as well as of ICPDR (International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River), GWP (Global Water Partnership) and the Carpathian Convention.
