French Ambassador: Fight against corruption must continue in the same direction

France's Ambassador in Bucharest Michele Ramis said in Cluj on Wednesday that Romania must continue in the same direction the fight against corruption, after the dismissal of Laura Codruta Kovesi from the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) prosecutor-in-chief office, informs Agerpres.

"France's Foreign Ministry has voiced an opinion on this topic. We saluted the work Mrs Kovesi conducted as well as this robust fight to strengthen the fight against corruption. We voiced the desire for Romania to continue on the same direction, to continue the efforts made so far, and this fight against corruption must continue in the same direction," Michele Ramis said, asked by journalists about how she sees the continuation of the fight against corruption.

The French ambassador to Romania participated in the reception organised to mark France's National Day, in Cluj-Napoca.

Among others, also attending the event were prefect Ioan Aurel Chereches, mayor Emil Boc, Honorary Consul of France in Cluj Pascal Fesneau.
