Thanksgiving Day - celebrated by Romanian Naval Forces at Sailors' Monument

The Romanian Naval Forces (FNR) are bringing homage on August 14, on Thanksgiving Day, the memory of the heroes and forbearers who made history in the naval confrontations of the wars in which the Romanian Navy took part to defend the independence and sovereignty of the country, the National Defence Ministry (MApN) informed through a press release. 

According to the quoted source, traditionally, on Thanksgiving Day, military sailor will participate at 8.30 AM, in the military and religious ceremony organized in the memory of the military heroes at the Sailors' Monument on the boardwalk in Constanta. 

"Furthermore, at 10:00 AM, also on the boardwalk a military ceremony will be organized to grant the Battle Flag to the "Ovidius" Naval Forces Support Battalion, but also some military distinctions on behalf of the National Defence Ministry leadership," the MApN release also shows. 

The FNR 18 exercise, the biggest naval show of the year, will take place on Wednesday, between 10:00 and 12:30, in Constanta, Mangalia, Braila, and Tulcea, and in Bucharest in Herastrau Park. The specific activities will continue, between 1 and 3, in the Tomis Port in Constanta, where military sailors will organize traditional sailor games and competitions. The day will end with the concert of the Military Orchestra of the Naval Forces on the Constanta boardwalk, starting at 8:30 PM, and the sailors will have a withdrawal with torches between 9 and 11 PM, in the cities of Mangalia and Constanta.
