Road passenger transport advanced 13.8 percent in H1 2018 compared with H1 2017, while air passenger transport went up 7.5 percent, according to data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The number of passengers travelling by plane in the first six months of the year was 9.944 million, of whom 86.6 percent took international flights.
In contrast, rail passenger transport decreased by 2.7 percent in terms of the number of passengers transported. A decrease by 23.4 percent was recorded for inland water transport, which was used by 49,000 passengers. No passengers were registered in the maritime transport during this period.
As far as the local mass transit is concerned, 58 percent of the passengers travelled by buses and minibuses.
