Romania's Foreign Ministry (MAE) expresses its solidarity with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland over the statement by the British Foreign Office on hostile cyber-actions.

"Romania, as an EU and NATO member state located in the vicinity of regions marked by instability, has also faced such challenges," MAE says in press statement released on Thursday.

MAE and the relevant Romanian officials "reconfirm Romania's firm commitment to supporting the fight against cyber-aggression and express their interest in co-operating with the UK and other allies and partners so that concrete and firm measures can be taken in concert to contain and prevent them."

On Thursday, British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt accused Russian military intelligence (GRU) of conducting a campaign of "indiscriminate and reckless" online attacks targeting political institutions, businesses, media and sport bodies around the world, the AFP news agency reports.

"This pattern of behaviour demonstrates their desire to operate without regard to international law or established norms and to do so with a feeling of impunity and without consequences," he said.

"Our message is clear - together with our allies, we will expose and respond to the GRU's attempts to undermine international stability," Hunt said.
