Social Democratic Party (PSD) senator Liviu Pop, former Minister of Education, declared on Saturday, upon exiting the polling station, that he voted "for family, for the traditional family."

"For the family, the traditional family, the family in which each one of us was born and in which every child has a right to a mother, even if she's the natural mother or the adoptive mother," said Liviu Pop, after voting at the "Jean Monnet" High School in the Capital City.

When asked his opinion about what change is expected the referendum to bring, the Social Democrat Senator said: "I hope it will put an end to the war between Romanians and Romanians."

Furthermore, he highlighted that he does not consider it as being a constraint on rights, explaining that he refereed to the "war" taken to the online area in the last couple of days.

"There is no constraint of rights. I said the war between Romanians and Romanians because even the public information campaign of the last few days as turned into a dispute, generally in the online area, between Romanians and Romanians, which is not normal," Pop said.
