Romania's turnover in industry (domestic and foreign markets combined) up 12.9pct, Jan.-Sept. 2018

Romania's turnover in industry (domestic and foreign markets combined) increased by 12.9 percent percent in nominal terms, in the first nine months of 2018 compared with the same period of 2017, due to increases in the manufacturing industry (+13.1 percent) and the extractive industry (+5 percent), according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) on Monday. 

By major industrial groups, turnover growths were recorded in the following sectors: energy (+19.3 percent), capital goods (+15.9 percent), intermediate goods (+11.9 percent), consumer goods (+8.1 percent) and durable goods (+ 7.1 percent). 

In September 2018 compared to September 2017, the turnover in industry increased overall by 7.8 percent, due to increases in the manufacturing industry (+8.0 percent) and the extractive industry (+2.9 percent). 

By major industrial groups, increases were also recorded in the energy industry (+23.4 percent), the capital goods industry (+ 10.2 percent), the intermediate goods industry (+ 5.4 percent), the consumer goods industry (+3 percent) and the durable goods industry (+1.9 percent). 

In September 2018 compared to the previous month, the turnover in industry increased overall by 8.1 percent, following the increases recorded in the manufacturing industry (+8.3 percent) and in the extractive industry (+3.2 percent). 

By major industrial groups, increases were recorded in the capital goods industry (+26.3 percent), the durable goods industry (+5.0 percent) and intermediate goods industry (+3.5 percent). The energy industry maintained its level, whereas the consumer goods industry dropped by 4.7 percent.
