The simple motion against Minister of Tourism Bogdan Trif called "Tourism in Romania: An incompetent minister and a country without a brand" got rejected on Monday by the plenary sitting of the Senate.

As many as 40 Senators vote "in favor" of the motion and 76 "against. The vote was secret and cast electronically.

The 35 Senators from the PNL and the Save Romania Union (USR), who signed the motion criticised Trif's activity, arguing that he "lacks transparency" and the budgetary execution of the Ministry of Tourism stops in August 2017.

According to the initiators, "Romania is among the last positions in the European Union in all tourism indicators," with our country being "the only one in Central and Eastern Europe with a deficit in the balance of payments in the tourism sector."

The signatories of the motion demanded the resignation of Minister Trif.
