The European Union and NATO are two very important pillars for Romania and the future of our country is among the solid, Euro-Atlantic democracies, President Klaus Iohannis stated on Tuesday on the occasion of a dialogue he had with the young winners of the Civic Avengers, part of the Once Upon a Time in Romania project of the Romania Initiative.

"Romania chose a path that brings, if we want to be consistent, prosperity and security. It is, on the one hand, located in the European Union's economic area, which helps us very much and it is a very good thing for Romania. On the other hand, in the security area, we are in NATO and NATO is the most powerful military alliance that has ever existed on earth. So, from this point of view, I really do not think that Romania will be in a difficult situation. That is why, I am very unpleasantly surprised that there are politicians who question precisely these two alliances that ensure us a very, very solid position. Externally, there are two very, very important pillars for Romania's future and these things, on the one hand, should be thought well and, on the other hand, we must be very aware that our future is here in the European Union, in NATO, in the Euro-Atlantic democracies, solid democracies and not elsewhere. And then, we will be well defended by the dangers that come from others spaces or other approaches," President Klaus Iohannis stated.
