President Klaus Iohannis stated on Tuesday that his wife will show up for the hearings at the General Prosecutor's Office (PG).

"Certainly, we have nothing to hide. These speculations are completely unfounded," the head of state said, when asked if his wife will come to the hearings at the General Prosecutor's Office.

On 10 December, Carmen Iohannis, President Klaus Iohannis's wife, announced the prosecutors with the General Prosecutor's Office that she cannot come to the hearing due to health reasons.

The First Lady was subpoenaed before to the General Prosecutor's Office in order to be heard in the case opened following a denouncement related to certain amounts of money obtained from renting a building.

According to some representatives of the PG, Carmen Iohannis's lawyer came before the General Prosecutor's Office and lodged medical documents certifying that the president's wife wasn't able to come for hearings.

The prosecutors are to establish another date for her hearing.

Carmen Iohannis was also subpoenaed before to the General Prosecutor's Office on 15 November, but, at that time, she conveyed to the prosecutors that she cannot come for hearings because she is accompanying President Klaus Iohannis on a visit to UK.
