Romania took over 29 files on Agriculture and Fisheries, all of them heavy files that are to be put into discussion in the period we are at the helm of the presidency of the European Union's Council, on Thursday night said the Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Petre Daea.

"It is an extraordinary work, since they are all hard files, it means a new approach on a new Common Agricultural Policy (PAC, ed. n.). The post 2020 CAP is different from the current one, I said it from the moment Commissioner Hogan delivered the communication in November 2017 and we have dealt with it from the moment we have sat on this very chair," Daea specified.

He added that a prioritisation of the 29 files has been done, since they are in various stages of progress.
"We took over these files from the Austrian presidency. I've been in Austria, I have sent experts, we have had meetings with the Austrian minister to be in the possession of the last information, to be aware of what we're taking over and what we are going to deal with from now on so that we could contribute properly, the like this legislative pattern is making us, as president (of the EU Council, ed. n.)" Daea stressed.

The minister mentioned that some files do not target Romania, but that they must be addressed because "we work here in the interest of the European Union".
