The Chamber of Deputies rejected on Tuesday the simple no-confidence energy motion "S.O.S. the energy sector! PSD and ALDE lead Romania in the dark!".

There were 95 votes in favour, 155 against and 19 abstentions.

The motion was debated in the Monday sitting of the Chamber of Deputies.

The National Liberal Party (PNL) voiced in the motion its concern about the situation in this area and says that energy prices have risen, with the country's energy security under threat, mainly due to lack of investment.

The PNL argues that the PSD and the ALDE must stop "lying the way they did in the 2018-2020 governing program." The PNL expresses its concern that, five years after the start of the review of Romania's energy strategy, this document is still not finalized, considering this is likely to generate "chaos" in the energy sector, the text of the motion reads.

In response, Energy Minister Anton Anton dismissed all the allegations.

The Romanian energy market has been linked to Central and Eastern European markets for a few years, and Romania has an energy strategy after many governments have failed to put down any line of strategy, said Anton Anton.
