Retail turnover, up 6.3 pct in September (as raw series)

Romania's retail trade turnover, except for motor vehicles and motorcycles, in nominal terms, increased in September compared to the previous month, both as raw series, by 6.3% and as series adjusted according to the number of working days and seasonality by 0.1%.

According to data published on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the businesses' advance as raw series was generated by the increase in retail turnover of computer and telecommunications equipment (+ 16.2%), consumer goods, others than food (+ 15%), other machinery, equipment and supplies (+ 8.9%), non-specialized retail trade (+ 8.3%), specialized retail trade of other products (+ 6.8%) , retail trade of raw agricultural products and live animals (+ 4.1%) and intermediation activities in retail trade (+ 2.4%). There were decreases in the retail trade of food, beverages and tobacco (-3.0%).

Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, the trade turnover increased both as a raw series by 2% and as a series adjusted according to the number of working days and seasonality by 0.2%.

In the first nine months of this year, retail trade turnover (except for trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased in nominal terms compared to the same period last year, both as raw and working days and seasonality adjusted series by 3.5% and 2.5%, respectively.
