Total registrations of passenger road vehicles, down 2.5% in Q4 2020 in Romania

The total number of registrations of passenger road vehicles in Romania decreased by 2.5%, in Q4 2020, to 152,262, from Q4 2019, of which new vehicles accounted for 44,193, according to data released on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), as reported by AGERPRES.

In the same period, new registrations of road freight vehicles increased by 11.1% to 30,270, from the same quarter in 2019.

According to INS, new registrations of passenger road vehicles increased in the category of mopeds and motorcycles by 60.6% and decreased in the categories of buses and minibuses by 25.9% and automobiles by 3.5% in Q4 2020, y-o-y.

According to INS, in terms of new registrations of new road freight vehicles, there were increases in the categories of mopeds and motorcycles 2.6 times and cars by 11.2%, and a decrease in the category of buses and minibuses by 22.9%.

Compared with Q3 2020, new registrations of road vehicles in Q4 2020 increased by 13.4% for passenger vehicles and by 4.8% for freight vehicles.

At the end of Q4 202, 55% of the road vehicles classified in accordance with the European Pollution Standards registered in circulation in Romania were compliant with Euro 4, Euro 5 or Euro 6 pollution norms, while 12.7% of them were compliant with non-euro pollution norm.
