Ambassador Peer Gebauer officially takes over mandate as Germany's ambassador

Ambassador Peer Gebauer officially took over on Tuesday his mandate as ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Romania, after presenting to the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, the letter of credence signed by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

According to a release of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to Romania, on this occasion the ambassador highlighted the desire to deepen the cooperation between the Federal Republic of Germany and Romania in all areas of common interest.

"Romania is a very important partner of Germany. This is demonstrated by the impressive density of bilateral relations in political, cultural and economic terms. Romania and Germany are involved together for a strong Europe and transatlantic security. In this endeavor we are united by respect and great confidence. As an ambassador, I look forward to working with our Romanian friends to further develop bilateral relations and deepen cooperation. Personally, I cannot wait to travel through this beautiful country and getting to know its people better," Peer Gebauer was quoted as saying in a statement.

The quoted source mentions that at the ceremony at the Cotroceni Palace the ambassador was accompanied by his wife, Sonja Gebauer, Head of the Culture Department at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bucharest, and by the Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Mission, Christian Plate, Agerpres informs.
