Direct foreign investments in Romania reach 3.962 billion Euro, up by 224 pct

Direct foreign investments reached 3.962 billion Euro during the first 7 months, as compared to 1.222 billion Euro during the similar period of 2020, representing a growth of 224%, according to data from the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

"Direct investments of non-residents in Romania amounted to 3.962 billion Euro (as compared to 1.222 billion Euro during the period of January-July 2020), of which capital participations (including the estimated net reinvested profit) amounted to the net value of 3.353 billion Euro, and the intragroup loans registered the net value of 609 million Euro," the press release reads.

The number of newly founded foreign companies in Romania went up by 47.1%, to 3,104 units, during the first 7 months of 2021, as compared to the similar period of 2020, according to data centralized by the the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).

The 3,104 new companies had a subscribed social capital worth 26.413 million dollars, by 477% higher than that of companies registered during the period of January-July 2020, of 4.574 billion dollars.

By activity, most companies registered in July 2021 were operating in retail and wholesale, auto and motorcycle repair (26.55% of total), professional activities, administrative, scientific and technical (21.66%) and transportation, storage and communication (16.20%).

At the end of July 2021, there were 234,080 companies with foreign participation in the share capital in Romania. The amount of subscribed capital stood at 64.132 billion US dollars, Agerpres informs.
