Romania's women's national handball team clearly defeated the Kazakh team, 38-17 (14-9), on Sunday, in Castello, in its second Group C match of the World Championship in Spain, agerpres reports.

The tricolors played modestly in the first half of the match, ending with an advantage of only five goals, 14-9, but they played much better after the break, managing to distance them much more from their opponents on the score board, 24-8.

Sunday's success also secured the Romanian team's qualification for the main groups of the competition.

The top three teams qualify for the main groups of the competition.

Romania is the only team present at all 25 editions of the World Championship (including this one). At the previous edition, in 2019 (Japan), the tricolors ranked 12th.

Romania has won four medals at the World Championship: one gold (1962), two silver (1973 and 2005) and one bronze (2015).
