People vaccinated against COVID or having recovered from the disease that become infected with SARS-CoV-2 will stay in isolation for seven days if they have a mild or moderate form, Secretary of State with the Health Ministry Adriana Pistol declared on Friday.
"People who have been vaccinated and who were ill the last six months already have some degree of protection through acquired immunity, which is why the period of transmission of the disease is much shorter. That is why we have decided that five days is enough and here we are talking about quarantine, not sick people. Those who are sick will be isolated for seven days. Isolation is a measure applicable to the positive person who, if vaccinated and ill, will remain in isolation for seven days. Quarantine applies to healthy people who are either in direct contact with a confirmed case or who are coming from red zone countries or other countries," Adriana Pistol told a news conference at Victoria Palace of Government at the end of the National Committee for Emergency Situations meeting.
She added that unvaccinated people who test positive will be isolated for a period of 10 days if the form of the disease is mild to moderate.
"For severe forms, it is obvious that they will be hospitalized as long as necessary," Adriana Pistol said.
