8,861 new cases of COVID-19, 43 deaths reported in past 24 hrs; Bucharest COVID-19 incidence rate continues to grow: 2.97 cases per 1,000 inhabitants

As many as 8,861 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been recorded in the last 24 hours and 43 deaths have been reported, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Tuesday, Agerpres reports.

"According to the data existing at the National Centre for Intervention Management and Coordination [CNCCI] level on January 11, 2022, at 10:00, within 24 hours, 8,861 cases of people positive with SARS-CoV-2 were registered. Also, 43 deaths were reported. No previous deaths are reported," the GCS said.

The 14-day COVID-19 rate for Bucharest is 2.97 cases per thousand inhabitants on Tuesday, up from the previous day, when a value of 2.57 per thousand inhabitants was recorded, according to the Public Health Directorate (DSP).

The highest rate of infection with SARS-CoV-2 in the Romanian capital was reached on October 22, when a value of 16.54 cases per thousand inhabitants was recorded.
