The co-chairman of AUR (Alliance for the Union of Romanians) George Simion announced on Thursday, in central Targu-Mures, that his formation managed to gather 730,000 signatures for suspending president Klaus Iohannis and hopes that until March they will reach 3 million signatures.

"We had 730,000 signatures at the last summing up, we are going forward, we hope to have 3 million in March. The weather is not helpful, but people are signing and I am glad to see that many here, in Targu Mures, are signing, just as I saw in Tarnaveni and Iernut (also in Mures County, ed. n.). We do not have such a large organization capacity to go everywhere, but there is the possibility of downloading online forms. Tomorrow we will be in Bistrita-Nasaud, then Suceava, then Botosani, on January 24 in Unirii Square in Iasi where we will dance the hora (traditional round dance, ed. n.)!" George Simion declared.

AUR's action of gathering signatures for suspending the president started in November 2021.
