The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, declared on Thursday that the ascending trend of SARS-CoV-2 infections continues, mentioning that next week there will be a spectacular new increase in the number of cases and he expects this trend to last at least two weeks, until February 10.
"The upward trend in this infection continues, even though today there was a small but expected decrease, because yesterday we had the maximum number of cases after four days off, when, obviously, the testing was more limited. And these values, in around 30,000 cases, will probably be registered by Saturday, after which there will be a further decrease, somewhere around 15-18,000 cases, we estimate, for the weekend. But next week there will be a spectacular new increase," Rafila stated at the beginning of the Government meeting.
He said that the speed with which COVID was growing was also important, Agerpres.ro informs.
"The increase rate continues. We are also interested in the increase rate. We have had eight or nine days of decrease, and now it is stabilized somewhat. That rate of reproduction is around 1.25 days, but when I have more information I will inform you," Rafila said.
