Romanians could go up in the digitization ranking, and the fundamental solution is represented by the certified digital competence for eliminating gap, say the representatives of ECDL Romania, the national operator of the international license for digital competence.

"There is a cost associated to a workforce without solid IT knowledge or a population without elementary digital aptitudes, which cannot integrate in the information society and cannot benefit from the opportunities of e-governing. This cost cannot be assumed and can be overturned by investing in digital competence to standards that have already proven their efficiency. Through training, but especially through the standard certification measuring the results of training, a workforce and a population are ensured, with the necessary abilities in order to perform in a transformative environment. Better focusing on IT abilities, we could drop the price we pay for digital ignorance. There is a major difference between how we self-evaluate our IT abilities and the results obtained after practical tests, as proven by the ECDL studies from countries with more developed economies and a higher level of digital competence, as opposed to Romania. (...) The Romanian people could go up in the digitization ranking. Certified digital competence are the solution for eliminating the gap," according to a press release sent by the operator, Agerpres.ro informs.

The most recent DESI report (Digital Economy and Society Index) places Romania on the last place in the European Union regarding the economy and digital society index.

ECDL Romania, the national operator of the license, has a network of over 800 training centers and certified testing nationwide.
