Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Marcel Ciolacu declared on Wednesday that some principles must be established first with regard to the cumulation of the pension with the state salary, due to staff shortages in certain areas.

He was asked at the Palace of the Parliament if he supports the cumulation of the pension with the state salary, Agerpres.ro informs.

"First of all, these two do not belong in the same law. The laws must be completely different. The cumulation of the pension with the salary in areas with staff shortages, where you can't find any, in research for example. Let's stop coming up with draft laws without thinking about them through the basic principle of what the Constitution gives us. We have some fundamental rights that should not be violated. (...) Let's see how you got retired, retired early, you speculated the law. I have said that I do not agree that there should be exceptions for dignitaries. We sit at the table and find the best solutions. By such a law, we may find certain areas completely uncovered, in the area of research or education. There are certain people who have retired early so as to cumulate the pension with the salary. I do not agree with this. We must first establish the principles," said Ciolacu.
